Lisa Graham

Music Director

Lisa Graham is beginning her eighth season as Music Director of the Metropolitan Chorale, the first seven under the name of Brookline Chorus. In this role, she has brought energy and professionalism to the chorus, and has shaped the chorus programming to include, alongside the masterworks, programs of contemporary, American, and lesser-known works. These culturally significant programs resonate with the Chorus’ mission to provide not only quality musical performances, but educational experiences for its members and its audiences. Past examples include a concert of modern and 17th-century Latin American works performed with musicians from Bolivia, and “Music Macht Frei [Makes You Free],” music from the Terezin concentration camps. In addition to her role as Music Director for the Metropolitan Chorale, Dr. Graham is the Evelyn Barry Director of Choral Programs at Wellesley College, where she conducts the Wellesley College Choir, Chamber Choir and Glee Club in addition to teaching academic courses in the Music Department. She formerly conducted the Handel and Haydn Society's Young Women's Chorus in Boston.

Before her arrival at Wellesley, she was on the faculty at California State University, where she conducted the Women’s Chorale. She studied at the Kingston University School of Music in London, at Sonoma State University, and at the University of Southern California, where she earned her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees. As a vocalist, Dr. Graham has performed as a soprano soloist, toured extensively and sung with professional choral ensembles.
